Extending the Electronic Flight Bag (EFB)
ADF takes the EFB concept to the next step with the xEFB™, an extended EFB platform that builds on AC 120-76A, with new application
tools to "extend" business reach across the enterprise. The xEFB™ is more than a device for displaying online manual – it is a
bi-directional data medium, exchanging aircraft-related content and enterprise data.
The xEFB software intelligently filters a myriad of operational information based on a combination of mode of operation (i.e. normal,
non-normal or emergency) and phase of flight. This intelligent filtering enables flight deck personnel to zero in on relevant
documentation, policies, procedures and charts.
Once a crew begins a normal, non-normal or emergency task, all of the necessary and related information is hyper-linked together and
presented in a graphical context, providing both flight crews and ground crews with a comprehensive view of the aircraft and supporting
operations.
Integrating the EFB With Enterprise Legacy Systems
Aircraft Data Fusion's architecture is intended to make mission-critical data from legacy systems available to the xEFB display. This enables a wide
range of potential applications that go well beyond the conventional notion of EFB information display.
ADF Mobile Solutions are designed to not be dependent on any specific hardware platform. Therefore, much of the xEFB
functionality (e.g. documentation, training, checklists) can be accessed on other mobile devices, such as handhelds, tablets or
notebook PCs.
